The Young Adult Leadership Program (Y.A.L.P) is designed to prepare young people for the real world. It gives them the skills they need to reach their goals and live up to their full potential - at school, in their relationships, and future careers.

Today, the world is more competitive, tech-driven, and demanding than ever before. Young people often need to balance school, work and relationships while at the same time, working and planning for their future. Y.A.L.P. can help teens become more confident and better able to cope with these areas. At Dale Carnegie Training®, we call them "skills that will last a lifetime:"

  • Build Self-confidence
  • Enhance Communication and Public Speaking Skills
  • Increase Self-Motivation
  • Manage Attitude and Stress
  • Deal with Peer Pressure
  • Set Goals and Hold Self Accountable
  • Refine Leadership and Team Work Skills
  • Practice Interviewing Skills

Y.A.L.P. provides students an opportunity to distinguish themselves by coaching them to accept greater accountability for their attitude and understand how it affects their ability to communicate with others.

Here’s what our previous graduates had to say:

"Even if you’re the most outgoing person, you still learn something. No matter where you are socially or stress-wise you have something to gain." - Aissatou B., St. Paul’s School for Girls

"I’m more vocal now and taking classes out of my comfort zone. The class has showed me how to be more confident, not to stress, and how to manage myself instead of cramming out at the last minute. In the class, you have to get to know people right off the bat. You have to speak and are forced to come out of your shell. The testimonies on the principles taught in class make you think about serious situations differently. Speaking to people-- you just get used it. And there’s a lot of benefit from having the student coaches, you can learn a lot from them."Shawn S., Boys' Latin School

"One of the biggest benefits for me was practicing public speaking; and going to this class helped me grow out of that fear, especially when I needed to prepare for my senior speech." - Jasmine Y., St. Paul's School for Girls

"I still talk to my friends from the class. Also, this year I’ve been working with others in group projects. We had a situation this year where people weren’t working well together and I was able to combine different interests so that everyone could get along."Kaitlin G., Maryvale Prep
